Modern Country Music - Gospel,Folks, Rock,Punk and Old Times

Bluegrass (Bill Monroe) continued the tradition of old String Band Music and created its pure form. In 1945 first recording in classic line-up was made with Bill Monroe performing the vocals and mandolin, guitarist was Lester Flat, 5-String banjo by Earl Scruggs, fiddle by Chubby Wise and upright bass by Cedric Rainwater. They set new standard for country music. Other artist who was influence by Monroe was Alison Krauss, Rocky Skaggs and Sam Bush.In 1960s country music reached its top and became multimillion-dollar industry featuring Tennessee and Nashville. Instrumental soloing was de-emphasised in favor of trademark 'licks'. The top artists of the genre were Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves followed by Tammy Wynette and Charlie Rich. In spite of stylistic diversity of country music, it was strangled by formulaic approach of The Nashvillie Sound producers. Due to domination of Rock ‘n’ Roll and British Invasion world of country music world needed reinvention. At the beginning of his carrier Pride tolerated open racism. It was a big shock to many TV audiences that the country music songs they enjoyed to listen performed by a black man. The Grand Ole Opry invited Pride to join them as a member but he declined. By in 1993 Pride became the second blank member of the Grand Ole Opry. Till today Pride has major influence on traditional country music artists. Ray Charles, Keb’ Mo’ and Cowboy Troy were also influenced by Pride. “The Black Experience: From Where I stand” an album made contributions of 52 black artists in country music. In spite the primary audiences of country music are generations of poor rural Southerners (Americans) in 1995 the country music became commercial. Today country music is enjoyed all over the world and present country music is controversial, loved, hated music. Country Music was praised for its diversity and universality but criticized for its poor quality and racism (supposed- due to frequently framed racial terms like “white trash”.
